This is a very special day for moms all around the world. No matter the race, nationality, culture or differences; the thing that binds us all is motherhood. As mothers, there are always little cute anecdote to share about our children. My funny story about the start of my Mother's Day is about how I pictured it happening and how it actually went down.

I had been bugging the kids all week to tell me what they had planned for me on Mother's Day. I knew I wouldn't get an answer from their dad, so I thought I could break them. No luck. But this morning when Lon rolled out of bed before me, which never happens; I knew I was at least getting breakfast in bed.
Sure enough, I started smelling bacon and the singe of toasted bread. I wanted the moment to be like I had pictured it in my head with me lying in bed looking as beautiful as Clair Huxtable from "The Cosby Show" or as put together as June Cleaver from "Leave It to Beaver". I jumped out of bed and ran into the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. Just as I reached up to take the scarf off my head to comb my hair, Kingston came to the door.
Running interference he asked, "Are you just getting up?" My eyes as wide as a deer in headlights, I looked at him through the mirror and nodded. He proceeded to tell me to stay in the room and that I had to watch TV in bed. As he was leaving the room, he turned and said, "Oh and put the scarf back on your head. There's a surprise for you on the bed."
All I could do was look in the mirror and laugh. I grabbed my scarf and went back to bed where my breakfast was beautifully laid out on a tray. I guess King and I both had our own ideas about how breakfast in bed is supposed to look. Anyway, it made my day and if it's all that I physically receive from my family today, it's enough to keep me happy and smiling all day.
I want to hear about your Mother's Day. We all have little stories to tell as mothers. Email me at diaryofahappymom@gmail.com or leave a comment after reading the post. Don't worry. You do not have to use your whole name. You can use your initials and your city, or you can remain anonymous. Either way, I want to hear from you.
May God continue to bless you and your family on this Mother's Day and beyond.
Love, Peace & Blessing ~
