A Weekend For Celebrating: Life, Love & Freedom!

I know I started Movie Monday last week, but I didn't have a second of free time to spend in the movie theater this past weekend. Lon and I hopped in the car to go see "Fast Five." We got around the corner from the house before deciding we were too tired (and too old) for a 10 p.m. show.

I hope you're ready for next Monday, though.  I will be reviewing "Jumping the Broom" and "Something Borrowed."  Yes, that's right! Two mushy and romantic comedies!  What a great start to the summer movie season!

Thank you so much for reading the review on "Madea's Big Happy Family."  I hope you enjoyed it. The post has gotten over 40 page views so far.  I think that's excellent for my lil' ole blog.  :-)

Since I didn't go to the movies, I thought I would share just a few things that were worth celebrating and talking about over the weekend.

Life

My son's 10th birthday, surrounded by his friends and family.
Love
I love love - no matter how it comes or who it involves.  Whether you liked it or not, or disagreed with all the coverage, you can not deny that this is every little girl's dream.  The new princess/duchess was beautiful and elegant on her wedding day.  I guess it's just the journalist in me, but I believe this was an important day in history.  I remember sitting in front of the television as a little girl watching Prince Charles and Princess Diana wed.   I pray that Prince William and Princess Catherine will be happy together, and I hope the media will leave them alone to live their lives in peace and happiness. FREEDOM!
A crowd outside Ground Zero in New York after hearing the news that Osama bin Laden had been killed by U. S. military forces.  Instead of putting the mug of a killer on my blog,  I thought showing the opposite of what you saw almost 10 years ago was more appropriate. This is definitely a time to celebrate, but not to let down our guards.  I am so thankful for our troops who have been overseas fighting for our freedom all this time. Maybe now they can start coming home and enjoying some of the freedom we take for granted.  (Photo by: Justin Lane/EPA, Source: msnbc.com)
