Aroma Wednesday is back! I've got a good one for you this week. It's a wonderful and welcomed change from spaghetti, mac n' cheese and American chop suey (Beefaroni). It's fast...it's easy and it's so good that.... I don't have a name for it... It's just a good pasta dish that if prepped in advance could be ready to eat in about 20 minutes.

So here's what you'll need to make Penne Pasta with Turkey Italian Sausauge for your family:
1-2 cups of California or Normandy blend veggies (or just broccoli)
1/2 onion (diced)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 cup chicken broth
1 tbsp of Philadelphia Cooking Creme
4 turkey Italian sausage links or 3 chicken breasts
1 box wheat (or regular) penne pasta
 |
Here are the ingredients again. Just to note, I used the Santa Fe blend cooking cream, pretty much because it's what was in the refrigerator. But feel free to try any of the different flavors. I guess if you're making an Italian dish, you should use the Italian Cheese & Herb or just the original. Either one will give you a creamy and delicious pasta. |

This dish works best in a wok. It makes tossing the pasta, meat and veggies super easy. Add the olive oil, onions and sausage to the hot wok. Chop the sausage into pieces as it cooks. Season to taste with salt and pepper. |
 |
If your husband is anything like mine, he won't touch anything that looks like pork - even if it says "TURKEY" on the package. So I make a separate batch with chicken for him. I know...I'm too good to him. :-) |

Cook sausage until browned. I tossed in some leftover peppers from another dish. You can add them or not. There's no need to drain the juices. It will add flavor to the dish. You could actually toss the pasta and veggies at this point w/out the cream or broth, and it's just as good. I prefer a creamy pasta. |
 |
Add drained pasta and veggies to wok and toss. At this point, you could let the veggies cook about 5 minutes and then it's ready to eat. |
 |
Here, I've added the cream and broth and tossed. Simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the veggies to cook, then serve. | |
Try it out and let me know what you think!
