One Special Little Boy: King's 10th Birthday Bash

The joke around the house about Kingston is that he is the "king" of the neighborhood.  He seems to be able to rally all of his friends together for a full day of play.  Austin always says if he's not outside, then no one is out.  But as soon as he steps one foot out the door, kids come out of the woodworks.  I should also mention that if King is not outside, then he's probably grounded for some reason.  We can take his cell phone or his video games, but if we want to hit him where it hurts, we make him stay in the house for a day or two.  It kills him!

The downside to keeping him inside is that every child in the neighborhood comes ringing the doorbell.  After about the fifth "ding-dong", I go to the door and say for the last time, "Kingston will not be coming outside today, and please go spread the word!"  Lon and I always say it's something in his name.  He may never be an actual king, but maybe he will be a leader one day.

Even though he is last on the birthday list, and I hardly ever write about him in my blog, I want you to know that  he is one very special little boy.  Today proved this point even more.  He had the largest turn-out for his birthday bash and the best location this birthday season.

Not only were all of his friends at his pool party, but almost all of his Jacksonville family stopped by as well.  Even my hermit older sister came out to spend the day with him.  (She's going to kill me for saying that.)  The Velez's, our newest family members, also stopped by.  They are my niece's( Sherricka) mother and father-in-law.  King spent some time with them last summer while waiting for summer camp to start.  He fell in love with them and their dog, Lucky.

Because it's way past my bedtime, I'm going to let the picture tell the story.

On the way to get a haircut Saturday morning.

Instant makeover! My little man's growing up.  :-(

Ok, so Crasher 1 &2 are neighborhood friends.  They are older, but joined the party anyway.  The more, the merrier.

They had a blast!

He wanted a football theme.  This isn't exactly the idea I had in mind, but it worked out.  I was at least able to incorporate his team's colors.

A big THANK YOU  to everyone who shared this birthday season with us.  You made the milestones for the Burney trio very memorable.  It's been fun, but I'm glad my work is almost done.  It won't officially end until Monday, May 2nd at noon.   Happy birthday, Kingston!
