16 Thankful For Breakfast at Dinner Time!

16 days to go!!!

-Yes, I'm thankful for pancakes, eggs, bacon and homefries. That was our dinner Tuesday night.  The night before, I walked in the door from work and went straight to the kitchen to start dinner.  You know me.  I'm a firm believer in a 30-minute meal.  I've had my card pulled plenty of times for being a southern girl who doesn't cook big Sunday dinners or soul food.

I must have been under a spell Monday night when I made my famous Thanksgiving stuffing, which I try not to make too often.  We had grilled chicken breast and gravy (forgot to take out the turkey wings), baked tilapia and sweet peas.

I know what happened. Lon and Austin - two peas in a pod- sweet-talked me into it!  They go goo-goo for stuffing. I love it when they enjoy eating the foods that I think are my best dishes.  Trust me, I don't have many. :-)

Lon begged for it on Sunday, but I waited too late to get started on it.  I guess Monday after working 10 hours was better timing, right?  Then I mentioned to Austin that I was thinking about making it when I talked to her in our daily out-of-school chat.

Now, Austin seldom volunteers to cook.  If I need her to do it, she will.  Otherwise, she's not stepping foot in the kitchen until dinner is ready.  When I expressed how tired I was and that I didn't feel like cooking a big dinner, she almost had a conniption fit!

"I-I'll make the cornbread, Mom," she said in her dramatic as only Austin can be voice. "Please! Just don't change your mind!" How could I turn down an offer like that?  James offered to help too, but that was an epic fail as soon as we walked in the house.

I was so tired after cooking that I went straight upstairs and climbed into bed.  Lon must have felt really bad because he came in Wednesday night and cooked breakfast.  Do you think I cared?  Not one bit!  He cooked breakfast for dinner, and we all ate it like it was the best meal ever!

What mattered the most is that he showed compassion for what I went through the night before.  It was very considerate and thoughtful.  It's a lesson we can all learn in our marriages.  Your spouse may not do things the way you want them done when you want them done.

What's important is that they hear you without you saying a word,  and they show a little compassion and consideration.  So don't get mad.  Just be patient and see what happens next.

~God is good.  God is great.  Thank him for the breakfast I ate...at dinner time!

16 Days, Baby!!! Ye-ah!!!
Wait, why am I so excited again? I almost 40!! I'm having a panic attack!  :-)
