Fall is in the air!!! Yes, I know. The beginning of the cozy season starts in
September, but in Florida, you don't start feeling it until
about November. There's a little nip in the air, and you can almost
smell the warmth of pumpkin spice or a delicious sweet potato pie in the
air.

Something else is stirring in the November air. Thanksgiving Day will be a very, very
special day for me. I am a Thanksgiving baby, and this year my
birthday falls on the holiday.
When I was in school years ago, I would
count down the days until my birthday, starting on the first day of the
month. I would bug all my friends and family the whole 24 days. I would
doddle the numbers in big bubble-letter style on exams, reports and on
homework. Sometimes my teachers
would put a smiley face next to it, but at least one of them would write in big,
red letters, "NAME AND
DATE ONLY!" It didn’t matter.
All I cared about was that someone knew that it was

days
before my special day.
It’s been years since I’ve done the birthday countdown. Of course, the
older I get, the less I want to celebrate. I mean, I’m knocking on 40 for goodness sakes! Still, for
some reason, I feel like bringing it back. Maybe it's because the older I get, the more I
appreciate my life. What better
way to show my gratitude to my Savior, Jesus Christ, for another year than to
do a Thanksgiving countdown.
So from now until NOVEMBER 24 - THANKSGIVING DAY - I'm going to do
something charitable or share memories with you from this year that remind me
of why this one life is so important.
Bear with me now. You know this is going to be a challenge for me, seeing
that it will be my first time posting for 24 days straight (swallowing huge lump
in my throat). I may have to IOU a day, or do two-a-days depending on how
crazy things get around the Burney headquarters. It will definitely be a
challenge, but one well worth it.
